Prime Minister Söder visits Zettl Group
Bavarias Prime Minister Markus Söder predicts a demand for “billions” of masks in the fight against the Corona virus in the long run. “We will permanently have an enormous need. I believe that in the end we will need billions of masks in Germany”, states the head of the CSU party on Thursday in Weng in lower Bavaria (district of Landshut).
There he visited an automotive supplier along with his minister of economics, Hubert Aiwanger (Freie Wähler party) that has extended its business by the production of masks in view of the crisis. Normally the Zettl Group manufactures accessories like seat covers or door panels in its plant. Up to 5 millon protective masks a month shall be produced there in the future.
At first the masks will be needed for the medical personnel and then primarily for retirement and nursing homes, says Söder. But eventually they will also be needed “in a broader scheme e.g. in cases of safety at work and being with others”.
